A Japanese tradition, dating back to the 12th century, the Kamishibai literally means: “paper theatre”. It is played using a set of pictures shown in a butai (wooden theatre), with three doors. A Kamishibai is composed of a set of numbered cards, telling a story. Each card depicts an episode of the narrative, the front shows the illustration, the reverse contains the text to be narrated. This form of representation helps children concentrate and immerse themselves in the magical world of storytelling.
