The Kumihimo foam disc is a Japanese technique consisting of 32 notches which help you to easily weave bracelets and rope belts. Creating your own jewellery is a real pleasure to showcase your creativity and expertise.
Making a basic 4-colour bracelet with the Kumihimo disc and 1.5 mm cotton thread.
Step 1: Cut 2 x 50 cm threads in each colour and tie them (8 threads).
Step 2: Feed the threads through the centre of the disc with the knot pointing down. The numbers on the disc must be facing upwards (visible). Step 3: Place the 8 threads next to each printed point in the indicated spaces: each colour in the spaces on either side of the points (one to the right and one to the left of the point).
Step 4: Take the upper right-hand thread, lower it and insert it into the slot to the right of the lower thread.
Step 5: Take the lower left-hand thread in the same colour, lift it and place it in the first free groove on the upper left-hand side.
Step 6: Turn the disc 90º to the right (quarter turn) and repeat points 4 and 5.
Continue to turn the disc 90º to the right and repeat points 4 and 5. The bracelet will weave under the disc while you continue to turn and repeat steps 4 and 5, until you reach the desired size. Finally, tie the ends of all the threads together in a knot.
